TM Specialist Engineers were commissioned to modify 2 Trent 500 Dummy engines to Trent 900 specification for the new Airbus A380 jumbo airliner.
Work consisted of stripping down the existing 500 series units and virtually
replacing all of the components to upgrade them to the larger engine
specification. All components had to adhere to the exact size and weight
distribution of the actual Trent 900 engine to ensure the success of the
pre-flight tests. All this had to be achieved against an extremely tight
delivery schedule which was met to the day. So pleased were Rolls-Royce
with the results that they awarded TM a plaque for outstanding performance
and quality.
Since installation of the engines into the A380 all testing has been
successful..
